Clinical Analysis Department

The Clinical Analysis Department plays a key role in the diagnosis and monitoring of various pathologies, incorporating techniques such as:

• Serology and Immunology: Highly useful in detecting antigens and antibodies for immune system evaluation.
  • Urology: For identifying disorders related to kidney function and urinary tract diseases.
  • Parasitology: For the microscopic identification of bloodborne, intestinal, and skin-transmitted parasites.
  • Hematology: For studying blood components and related diseases, as well as evaluating hemostatic factors—essential in diagnosing patients with hemorrhagic or thrombotic conditions and in monitoring anticoagulant treatments.
  • Semen Analysis (Spermatobioscopy): A valuable tool for assessing male reproductive health, providing a detailed analysis of semen quality and quantity.

 Specialized Areas

• Flow Cytometry: Useful in diagnosing leukemias, lymphomas, and immunodeficiencies, as well as monitoring immune status in HIV patients through quantification of T lymphocyte subpopulations. It is also essential for assessing Measurable Residual Disease.

  • Molecular Biology: We process multiplex panels based on real-time PCR analytical technology for simultaneous detection of pathogens responsible for infections of the respiratory tract, central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, joints, sepsis, and sexually transmitted diseases. We also perform Galactomannan Antigen testing and real-time PCR detection of Aspergillus DNA, which is highly useful in diagnosing invasive aspergillosis.

  • Microbiology: We use innovative technologies such as Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) to identify up to 4,800 bacterial, fungal, and mycobacterial microorganisms. We also use VITEK and MICROSCAN analyzers, along with conventional methods, to test antimicrobial susceptibility and detect resistance mechanisms.
